Our Travel Consultant, Anna Rowlands , is no stranger to sailing − it’s one of her favourite hobbies, and on one of her recent holidays in the British Virgin Islands , she was lucky enough to spend a day on-board the luxury sailing yacht, Pacific Wave (usually available to book for a minimum of seven nights). She says it’s one of the most beautiful boats she’s ever seen and her experience on-board was made extra special by the owners − British couple, Lynn and Mark − who are both fantastic hosts as well as yacht and dive masters.
Anna travelled with her partner and their day of luxury yachting started at Biras Creek where they set sail for Peter Island . The journey happened to be downwind the whole way, so Lynn ordered for the sails to be opened, while the boys opened up the jib. Anna loved that there was the opportunity to lend a hand in this way and Lynn and Mark made the journey even better by passing on their knowledge of the history and stories of the islands that they saw en route.
After a relaxing sail and lots of stunning views, the yacht arrived in Great Harbour at Peter Island, where it dropped anchor and Anna and her partner enjoyed a refreshing cold beer whilst Mark − who is an amazing cook and has cooked at many road shows alongside celebrity chefs and has won many awards at yacht shows − prepared a delicious lunch. On the menu was king prawns in a homemade tomato, garlic, white wine and basil sauce with homemade squid ink linguine, followed by a homemade vanilla cheesecake with fresh strawberries, all washed down with a fantastic bottle of rosé. It’s incredible what creations can be conjured up in a small galley kitchen!
After lunch, Lynn took Anna snorkelling in the clear, calm waters, and pointed out what all the different fish and corals were called. Anna tells us that the whole experience was incredibly memorable and she highly recommends it to keen sailors or non-sailors alike, and says it would be perfect for a honeymoon, a groups of friends, families and divers who will no doubt enjoy a combination of activities including diving, snorkelling, fishing, two-man kayaking, wakeboarding and water-skiing. Anna says that it’s also the little things in this yacht that makes it a dream; things like the skylight in the Master Bedroom for watching the stars at night, the finishing touches including the soft towels embroidered with the Pacific Wave logo, the Royal Doulton cutlery and the Villeroy & Boch ‘Wave’ dinner service − in her view, it’s pure perfection.
