For families, it doesn’t get much better than Barbados. On one inviting island, families can uncover, explore and experience a wealth of activities that appeal to several interests and, crucially, ages. Increasingly, Barbados is becoming the desired destination for multi-generational families, as there is so much for every family member to enjoy. Whether you choose to share one of Barbados’ incredible luxury villas or prefer the first-class facilities of the impeccable luxury hotels, your stay on this popular Caribbean island is sure to be five-star fun and utterly unforgettable.
Our prestigious portfolio of Barbados’ most rewarding hotels for families includes some of the Caribbean’s best children’s clubs whilst, of course, providing unrivalled spa, golf and dining experiences for the accompanying adults. Similarly in our spacious villas, there is enough room and entertainment facilities to ensure a perfect holiday for the whole family.
Venturing beyond the beach and out of the hotel or villa resorts, Barbados itself has so much to offer. Starting with a thrilling experience that takes intrepid explorers underneath the island, into the natural maze of ancient caves, Harrison’s Cave is a thrilling experience for adventurous families. Characterised as a ‘living cave’, this subterranean landscape features sparkling streams, cascading waterfalls and magnificent caverns.
For animal-loving travellers, Barbados Wildlife Reserve is an ideal day out. This ethically conscious setting showcases many different species, colours and interests that reflect Barbados’ variety and beauty. From the native Green Monkeys, which are as cute as they are cheeky, to colourful and chatty parrots and the native flamingo.
If your would-be explorers would like to get a bit closer to the action, Barbados is the perfect setting to dip your toe into diving and snorkelling. Located near one of the world’s largest coral reefs, the calm, clear waters of Barbados’ west coast are a myriad of tropical marine life. The Hawksbill Turtle is a native resident of Barbados and families can arrange exclusive ‘swim with the turtles’ experience at a number of our luxury resorts.
Should your family prefer to assert their active side on dry land, Barbados is a real sporting haven. From cricket academies, in the heart of a true cricketing nation, to tennis, golf and watersports – there is sure to be a high-energy activity to please your future athletes.
One of our favourite family activities in Barbados is the incredible Atlantis Submarine experience. Choose from a night or daytime cruise and watch in awe as you explore the Caribbean from an utterly unique vantage point. You’ll even get close to an ancient shipwreck and hear the fascinating tale of its doomed voyage. If you’ve ever wanted to be a pirate of the Caribbean – this is your chance!
Of course, one of the most important aspects of any luxury family holiday to Barbados is the dining. Dine at a world-class restaurant each night, or take the time to enjoy a meal with an unforgettable view. A lunchtime or evening cruise is an exceptional experience for families of all ages and you’re sure to further appreciate the beauty of this most special island when viewing it from the vast turquoise expanse of the Caribbean Sea.
Finally, another great way to experience the best of Barbados is with an island safari. You’ll uncover the hidden side to Barbados and parts of the island most visitors never see – from the rugged terrain of Barbados’ dense forest (remember to look up to the trees to see the Green Monkeys), remote bays that feel like your own private beach, and up to the coast for awe-inspiring views.
