A Great Hotel That Stands Out In A City Of Great Hotels

Tara loves her trips to Dubai and is lucky enough to have stayed at the luxury resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai several times over the last few years. She tells us that somehow each visit just seems to be better and better. She has always been greeted on arrival by Lito who never fails to say, “welcome back Mrs Taylor” as soon as he opens the car door for her, and he even asks about her little boy (who he always remembers the name of despite meeting him just once a couple of years ago). It’s just like visiting old friends who make a fuss of you, but this five-star treatment isn’t reserved just for her... all guests arriving at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai can expect the same warmth and welcome.
Tara’s check-in took place in the Club Lounge (something that all guests staying in Club accommodation benefit from) and once complete, she was taken swiftly to her Executive Suite where her luggage and some delicious Arabian sweet treats were waiting for her – little touches that she absolutely loved. She felt quite at home in her suite, which she describes as being light and spacious with an Arabic twist and modern design touches including oversized rain showers and eggshell bathtubs. The television pops up at the end of your bed with the touch of a button and iPad technology controls the lighting and the opening and closing of the curtains. No need to worry if you’re a technophobe though, as it’s all user-friendly. The whole suite is very comfortable with easy to operate air-conditioning and handy details including plug sockets next to the mirrors. Tara loved the sense of space in her Executive Suite too, making use of the large living room which is separated by French doors and even a walk-in wardrobe.
The resort has a great location on the walk so there are opportunities to go out to eat, shop and explore, but Tara’s objective on this visit was to experience as many of the resort’s luxurious facilities as possible. Tara tells us that days at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai tend to revolve around relaxation and so it seemed only right to spend a morning in the spa being pampered with wonderful treatments and swimming in the rooftop lap pool, before opting to go and catch a few rays of sunshine by the pool. As if by magic, the Pool Attendants appeared straight away to make up a sun bed for her and deliver a cool bag with water. There was a lovely atmosphere around the pool – busy, but not crowded – and with a smile on her face, she had to stop and consider, ‘can life get any better that this!!’ Then, she discovered it could when she was brought the most appetising fruit kebabs and sorbet to keep her cool!
Tara returned to the Club Lounge for lunch and enjoyed the lunchtime food presentation whilst looking out across the resort and the sea. The benefits that Club level guests receive are well worth the supplement; there are five food and beverage presentations throughout the day including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, hors d’oeuvres and chocolates, but where the Club Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai differs to other hotels, is that it offers alcoholic beverages throughout the day and not just during an evening happy hour.
After lunch, Tara returned to the pool and settled down with a good book in one of the cabanas at Le Baie Lounge – the stylish outdoor bar – taking the occasional dip and indulging in a late afternoon cocktail at the swim up bar!
Before heading to dinner that evening, Tara sat on the private balcony of her suite, looking out at panoramic views and watching the glorious sunset. She dined at the award-winning Blue Jade – the hotel’s Asian dining experience – on delicious cuisine conjured up by Chef Ta Van whose menu offers flavours from his Northern Vietnamese homeland, as well as the gastronomic culture of various Asian countries. Chef Ta Van even came out to say hello! The Sandwich Maki, Miso Black Cod and Chilled Banana, and Sago, Coconut Cream with Pandan Ice Cream are absolute must tries! It was the best Asian food she’d ever tasted and she says that she’ll never forget what she ate that night. It was made all the better by the wonderful Sake-based cocktails that followed too!
When Tara retired to her suite that evening, she had to smile again as there, sitting on her bed, was a family of animals fashioned out of towels, along with a sprinkling of rose petals and a lovely note from Eileen, her evening room attendant. It’s these touches, along with the amazing facilities and friendly, intuitive service that makes the guest experience so different here. Once you’ve experienced you will want to return again and again!
