Vietnam is a long “S” shaped country bordering the Eastern Sea described by the Vietnamese as two large baskets of rice hanging from a bamboo carrying pole; the two “rice baskets” represent the Red River Delta in the north and the Mekong Delta in the south whilst the “carry pole” represents the Truong Son mountain range that runs through the centre of the country.

Despite a nearly continuous struggle for autonomy (although it’s been over two decades since Vietnam was officially united) the country has quietly risen amongst the ranks to become one of the worlds’ most outstanding travel destinations. Its islands and beaches are amongst the finest in Southeast Asia, its highlands and rainforest regions team with exotic wildlife and its cuisine is undeniably some of the most delicious you will ever taste.
