Aspen, considered one of the most affluent ski destinations in the world, has always had an illustrious reputation; starting out as a silver-mining town, the town grew strong and wealthy off the metal. That is, until gold came along. Aspen suffered for a short time until it discovered its finest asset to date - soft, white snow...and lots of it.

Aspen boasts 184 kilometres of piste including eight snowboard parks and 42 ski lifts. There are 23 black runs, 26 red and 27 blue. In fact, Aspen is made up of four mountains, all of which are challenging for the well-practised skier, except for Buttermilk which is better for beginners and those new to the scene. Most slopes are dotted with trees but if you'd prefer to familiarise yourself with the terrain first, embark on a complimentary mountain tour, ran daily from 10.30am.
