Luxury Tuscany Holidays
Gazing out across the magnificent rolling hills of rural Tuscany, it’s easy to see why this region has become such a popular tourist destination. Hire a car and discover its enchanting countryside and pretty towns and villages overflowing with Renaissance art and architecture. The crown jewel of Tuscany is undoubtedly Florence, with its architectural masterpieces, colourful history and priceless art collections – not to mention superb shops and restaurants. Siena, meanwhile, certainly gives Florence a run for its money in the style and culture stakes. This well-preserved medieval walled town is most famous for the Piazza del Campo, which has played host to the famous Palio horse race since 1701. To this day, the race remains a major event on the Italian summer calendar. The Leaning Tower is the main reason for a visit to Pisa set on the banks of the River Arno, while Lucca and, of course, the winemaking Chianti region (locally known as ‘Chiantishire’) are also well worth exploring.
