The Golf Club at Datai Bay is a world-class, 18-hole, par 72 public course that nestles between the emerald-green mountain range of Gunung Mat Cincang and the sapphire-blue waters of the Andaman Sea. Secluded by nature as much as by design, the course boasts mountain and coastal vistas, with the centuries-old rainforest creating a dramatic backdrop. The fifteenth hole (par 3) is the most interesting, while the sixteenth hole (par 4) is regarded as the most beautiful. The Mandara Spa at The Datai features individual spa pavilions nestled in the jungle, beside a stream. Due to its unique position, built into surrounding rainforest, The Datai plays host to a wealth of wild animals and intriguing creatures; it's not unusual to find a wild pig sauntering past your door or the odd monkey tapping at the window. The Datai seamlessly blends into the natural environment, so the frogs and the lizards do as they wish, the monkeys make humorous fools of themselves and the insects carry on regardless. Expect to hear bird calls and monkey chatter throughout your stay, because this is a truly wild experience.
The Datai doesn’t have a traditional children’s club, but the unique surroundings more than make up for it. Wildlife sometimes ventures into the hotel, which fascinates children, but they can see more with a Ranger on a complimentary jungle trek. Monkeys, Sea Eagles, lemurs, Flying Squirrels and giant Monitor Lizards are all creatures which call this area their home. This is an excellent resort to spend quality time together and you can hire bikes to explore, or visit the beach where you can splash about in the family-friendly pool or paddle in the sea.
