The Black & White Adventure
The Black & White Adventure
Imagine being able to see Black Bears and Black Whales and then White Bears and White Whales, on the same trip. Well, courtesy of Clayoquot Wilderness Resort and Churchill Wild you can do exactly that. This unbeatable wildlife experience, means that you can get up close and personal with the Black Bears, Orca, Grey and Humpback Whales, in the UNESCO protected biosphere reserve and rainforests of Clayoquot Sound then travel to the northern wilderness of Churchill Manitoba’s Hudson Bay Coast, where you’ll have on-the-ground and in-the-bay access to Polar Bears, Beluga Whales and Arctic birds, as well as opportunities to learn about the Arctic flora and fauna and perhaps even catch a sighting of the incredible Aurora Borealis. Both the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort and Churchill Wild specialise in incredible nature holidays with first class facilities and amenities.

Located in the Clayoquot Sound World Biosphere, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in a temperate rainforest teaming with wildlife referred to as an “upside down rainforest” by National Geographic, Clayoquot’s eco-safari experiences are adventure and photographic opportunities just waiting to happen. Wilderness activities are personalised to each guest's requests and experience level and Activity Directors help design the adventures for each day, dependant on weather, tidal charts and animal sightings.

Our partner, Churchill Wild is the only company in the world that offers access to remote Arctic locations. Eco- lodges are strategically set in a wildlife corridor, home to an incredible diversity of wildlife species; terrestrial mammals such as caribou, black bears, wolves and foxes and marine animals such as Beluga Whales, seals and the largest concentration of polar bears in the world. Daily activities minimise the impact on the environment while maximising guests’ experiences – boat expeditions allow you view the Beluga Whales, seals, and polar bears up close and personal – the Belugas are naturally social creatures and being very curious will often come close to investigate your presence and the boats are equipped with hydrophones so you can listen to their whale song. Aside from the Belugas and Polar Bears, treks along the beach and near the lodge allow you to discover nesting birds, fox dens, the mighty caribou and pretty wild flowers.
