Just fifty-six couples are pampered by a crew of ninety-five on-board SeaDream’s family-owned yachts. Founded in 2001 by Norwegian entrepreneur Atle Brynestad, SeaDream Yacht Club’s two small, sleek, mega yachts - SeaDream I and SeaDream II - weigh in at 4260 tons apiece and pride themselves on offering a highly exclusive yachting experience, blending the standards and facilities of a world-class spa resort with the class and relaxed, unstructured luxury of private motor yachts.
The ships’ small size enables the captain to be flexible and adjust port calls according to local opportunities. Hence you will find the yachts frequently making unscheduled calls at small ports, to visit a local fish market for example or to remain longer than scheduled in a secluded bay so guests can enjoy a few more hours of watersports. SeaDream yachts also overnight at many ports of call, ensuring you can enjoy all the late evening activity in attractive destinations.
The officers and Captain interact closely with guests – you may find yourself snorkelling with the Captain in an area he knows well, or on a shore-hike with the Activities Director that he has uncovered on a previous visit. Or join the chef on a visit to his favourite patisserie or to a fish market to select that evening’s delicacies.
Service onboard is exemplary – personal and attentive. The bartender will know your name and your favourite tipple, the waiters will surprise you with your favourite dessert, you will return to your cabin to find ‘his and hers’ pyjamas as a gift at turn-down.
Award-winning cuisine can be enjoyed in either the indoor or outdoor full a la carte restaurants accommodating all guests – both SeaDream I and II are the only vessels at sea with this facility. There is no formal dress code, and caviar is readily available!
The intimate size of both yachts allows for greater exploration of difficult to reach destinations, it also makes them the perfect choice for special occasions, provided that guests book in advance, vessels can be chartered for exclusive use from as few as three or four nights.
The ships have no private balconies as the yachts were built before they became standard features, however they are not really missed as there's so much deck space and plenty of room to find a nook or cranny outdoors. Cabins are beautifully decorated, with high-tech toys, luxurious bedding and bathrooms with a shower-for-two.
