Guests can choose from two different types of accommodation: the secluded, luxurious Dwyka Tented Lodge (with nine tents) or the family-friendly Gondwana Family Lodge (with twelve suites), complete with its own 'Kids on Safari' programme. Sanbona is the ultimate 'no pressure' destination, encouraging guests to relax and do nothing at all, if they so desire. Guests are encouraged to dine fireside and under the starlit sky in the traditional open-air boma. This formation is an authentic outdoor area with a huge central fireplace, surrounded by an arrangement of sticks to create an open-sky enclosure.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is home to the only free-roaming pride of White Lions in the world, as well as the hugely endangered Riverine Rabbit. In fact so blighted is this little creature, it ranks as the 13th most endangered species on the planet. Game-drives involve travel in open-topped Land Cruisers with experienced Guides, knowledgeable in flora and fauna, while nature walks and bird-watching are also available - keep a look out for the magnificent Black Eagle. On ground level, there's the possibility you'll encounter the 'Big Five', while the almost barren landscape is fascinating in its own right. Admire unusual rock formations, fossils and river pools amidst the vast desert-like terrain.

There is plenty to keep the little ones happy with a children's playroom, outdoor play area, an outdoor swimming pool with shallow end and their own 'Kids on Safari' educational programme. Children over four years old are welcome on safari game-drives. Children are only permitted at Gondwana Family Lodge.
