PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi Keeps Their Finger on the Pulse with Joss Stone
Posted: 20 January 2016
PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi has always been proud of pushing boundaries. Dedicated to helping guests step into a waking dream, its underwater spa treatment rooms were a global first, while originally designed water pavilions set the bar even higher when it came to luxury accommodation in the Indian Ocean. It is in this spirit of innovation that PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi has jump-started 2016 with the launch of PULSE, a cutting-edge stream of creative events brought to life by art and performances, including an exclusive, one-night-only show by soul sensation, Joss Stone.
Following on from PULSE’s debut guest this month, Justine Picardie, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country UK, the free-spirited, Grammy Award-winning singer is set to take the stage on 28th February 2016, as part of her ambitious Total World Tour, during which she aims to play in every country on the planet in aid of charity. With a staggering career for such a young artist, Joss Stone revived soul music for Britain with the release of her multi-platinum album, The Soul Sessions, in 2003, and has continued to top charts ever since, making her one of the best selling artists of her time, and one of the top five wealthiest British musicians under thirty.
Along with playing fan-favourites and songs from her new album, Water For Your Soul, the set will also include collaborations with local, home-grown Maldivian musicians, incorporating the island’s indigenous sounds with her own soulful vocal stylings. The laidback, barefoot luxury of the Maldives is the perfect setting in which to be serenaded by the Bohemian songstress’ lyrics, where you can lie back as the balmy evening draws in, and the stars awaken in the lilac sky on this spellbindingly beautiful island.
Joss Stone’s arrival here will mark the first time a world tour event has been brought to the shores of the Maldives, proving there is more to the island than first meets the eye. Furthermore, PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi has also recently opened its own art gallery, which, tallying up another world first, carries the prestige of being the only gallery exclusively accessible by boat or plane alone. Here, Dorset-born photographer, Paul Reiffer, displays his work that hopes to capture the culture of the Maldives, alongside an exhibition of landscapes shot from his travels around the world. Also in the pipeline, the resort looks forward to hosting Camden Market ice-cream aficionados, Chin Chin, known for their unique, liquid-nitrogen frozen desserts that billow with clouds of ice before being eaten, and Indian artisans of leather, Nappa Dori, who will hold bespoke workshops in the master of their craft.
It may have a reputation for being the destination of choice for those looking to do no more than dig themselves into the sand and take it easy until sunset, but we predict that PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi’s diversion into offering exciting new experiences will prove that the Maldives is looking ahead to defy expectations, ushering in a new era for this Indian Ocean hotspot.
Joss Stone will be performing her exclusive show at PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi on 28th February 2016, and guest accommodation is still available. For more information, or to make a booking, please call our expert Indian Ocean Travel Consultants on 01244 897 881.
