Ascend Burj Khalifa Afraid of heights and scared of lifts, we didn’t think that this would be at the top of Myra’s list of things to do, but she bit the bullet and embarked on this completely unique experience. She’s so glad that she did and thoroughly recommends it to anyone. The Burj Khalifa comprises 148 floors, with the Armani hotel towards the bottom, as well as residences and offices, but the reason that people visit is to take the express lift to the observation point of floor 124. Myra says that, incredibly, it takes just over a minute to reach it. The journey is smooth, although Myra said that she did feel like her ears needed to ‘pop’ by the end of it. On stepping out onto the viewing platform, Myra was quite happy to view from a distance, rather than go right up to the windows, but she still enjoyed the most awesome 360-degree views of Dubai city, the beach, sea and islands.
Dubai Mall Myra had thought, as you might expect, that Dubai Mall was just a rather large, albeit impressive, shopping centre. Yes, it is, but Myra says that this is just part of what it is. As well as over 1,000 shops and restaurants, she couldn’t believe what else was in there. With a 40-screen cinema, KidZania − a virtual mini city for little ones, The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, and SEGA Republic Indoor Theme Park, you could easily spend days exploring all that the mall has to offer.
Yacht Trip Around The Palm Myra has visited Dubai before, but this was the first time she was treated to a yachting trip around the incredible Palm Island. She says that it was a very pleasant way to explore and the welcome breeze was delightful. It gave her a very different perspective of the locations of the hotels and, of course, great views back onto Dubai city.
