Luxury Murcia Holidays
The coastal area around the Murcia region is known as the Costa Calida, which means 'Warm Coast' - an apt description for the appealing, mild climate here that experiences little rainfall. This area stretches from the Mar Menor lagoon, around La Manga Strip and along the Mediterranean coast to Aguilas in the south. The area incorporates some fabulous golden sand beaches, most of which offer safe sea bathing and watersports such as kite-surfing, jet-skiing and scuba-diving. In sharp contrast, head inland to sweeping, almost desert-like spaces interspersed with lush green valleys where local vineyards produce some very good quality wines. Sleepy medieval villages jostle for attention with modern towns, while the city of Murcia is perfect for a day's sightseeing. Divided by the Segura River, historical treasures include the beautiful Cathedral de Santa Maria, Almudi Palace and the nearby Castle of Monteagudo.
