Luxury Mpumalanga Holidays
En route to the Kruger Park and South Africa's exclusive game reserves, Mpumalanga's 'Panorama Route' has to be one of the most spectacular paths to follow in South Africa. The route leads you through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg where, in the north-eastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines abruptly and opens up to reveal splendid views of the plains of the lowveld, a thousand metres below. The most impressive stretch is at Blyde River Canyon - the third deepest canyon in the world. Enjoy a helicopter tour, or join a guided hike or horse-riding trek - the views are simply breathtaking. The towns of Lydenburg and White River are gateways to the route, taking visitors through the quaint towns of Pilgrim's Rest - a living museum dating back to the heydays of the gold rush - as well as Sabie, Graskop, Ohrigstad and Hazyview. The surrounding area is also famous for its birdlife and well-stocked rivers and streams. Golfers won't be disappointed either as they may perfect their swing on a number of fine courses within the area.
