Situated on Mombo Island, just off the northern tip of Chief's Island, Mombo Camp is built under the shade of large trees overlooking a wonderful floodplain teeming with wildlife. Famed for frequent sightings of lions, it provides some of the best big-game-viewing in Botswana. Spacious tented rooms, raised above the ground, offer breathtaking views over the plains. The main living and dining area is under thatch and there is a boma for delicious dinners under the stars. Large concentrations of game gather in front of the camp and guests can spend their siesta time watching a variety of animals without even leaving their deck. Children over six years old only are allowed at the camp.

Please note that Little Mombo Camp will be closed from 17 to 29 February 2012.

The excellent game at Mombo Camp has made this area Botswana's top wildlife documentary location. National Geographic, the BBC and many others have filmed here, regarding Mombo as having some of the best all-year-round game-viewing in Africa. With the added bonus of being the only place in Botswana where the 'Big Five' can be seen, Mombo's game-viewing is not only unique, but constantly superb throughout the year.

Abundant big-game-viewing is possible in all seasons, with the highlight of the area being the vast concentrations of all the plains game and their predators - especially the big cats. Lion and leopard sightings are particularly good, with resident prides of lions being seen on virtually every game-drive and leopards being so undeterred by people that they have been seen walking straight through camp (and on one occasion actually sitting on the dining table!). Guests can also see large herds of buffalo, cheetahs, wild dogs, elephants, White and Black Rhino, hyenas, giraffes, wildebeest and zebras. Birdlife is prolific, with waterfowl and waders being particularly common.
