Luxury Madrid Holidays
The capital of Spain, located right in the heart of the Castillian plain and over six-hundred metres above sea level, Madrid has a population of over three-million and is where the headquarters of the Spanish Parliament is located. It is also the home of the Spanish royal family. The city is characterised by intense cultural and artistic activity and a very lively nightlife, and few other European capitals can claim a past anything like as chequered as Madrid's; with its complex mosaic of peoples and cultures still reflected in city life today. Remains of the distant past can mainly be found in the Baroque and Neo-Classical structures of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Plaza Mayor (Main Square) and Palacio Real (Royal Palace).
