La Belle Helene has a very grand posture – submerged in rolling hill-side on the beautiful lawns of Beau Estate and standing beneath St Lucia’s almighty Pitons. The swimming pool rests at the bottom of tropical gardens; overshadowed by the supreme presence of The Pitons – so close they appear almost touchable and make the large and rather stately villa look positively demure. Sleeping up to twenty-two guests, La Belle Helene has eleven generously-sized bedrooms, including three rooms in a separate pool-side cottage. Size and scale really is the order of the day here; from the imposing mountains to the enormous bedrooms, so huge are the villa’s interiors, furniture appears dwarfed in comparison.

Accommodation

The villas entrance is quite remarkable, with French double doors and a huge hallway flanked by a grand double staircase, sweeping either side and culminating in a beautiful upper balcony. There is stunning cream marble and iron-metal balusters framing the stairway which make for an awesome first impression.

The house enjoys 10,000ft² of internal space so the double sitting room, dining area and bedrooms are all very spacious. The dining room can seat up to twelve guests and the living room is surrounded on two sides by sea-facing patios. From here, the patio leads through magnificent archways towards two open-air dining areas with ceiling fans and an open bar.

Externally, there is a large, exotic swimming pool at the bottom of a relatively steep hill, sloping down to both the pool and then a craggy, pebble beach. There is a pool deck, sun loungers and a few thatched cottages surrounding the pool’s edges as well as a waterfall feature and stupendous views across the ocean and up towards the Pitons. The pool depth ranges between three foot and fourteen foot so children should be supervised at all times.

The cook will prepare three daily meals but guests are responsible for their own groceries, although there is a housekeeper available to help. The fully-appointed kitchen comprises marble counters, coffee machine, cappuccino maker, deep-pan fryer, juicer, blender, dishwasher, ice-maker and two fridges. There is also a laundry room adjacent to the kitchen.

Leisure Facilities

Luxury Hotel Experiences

Staff at La Belle Helene is extensive and includes a cook, housekeeper, night watchman, pool maintenance, security, two gardeners and a daily maid. The villa manager sleeps on-site but in a separate cottage.

If feeling adventurous, try climbing the incredible Pitons – it’s roughly a five-hour round trip with the assistance of a guide; this is a hard-slog but your efforts will be rewarded greatly. Alternatively, the town of Soufriere offers a wealth of unique attractions, such as the Diamond Waterfall, the Mineral Baths and a drive-in volcano.

Luxury Beach Holidays

Guests can access a rocky, pebble beach at the bottom of the estate while a white-sand beach is still just a short drive away.
