At the heart of the old town is a traffic-free pedestrianised centre with enticing boutiques and restaurants. It’s best known for the Hahnenkamm, the toughest race on the annual World Cup calendar of which the start has been describes as ‘the toughest six seconds of skiing in the world’! The televised race the impression that the resort is only for expert skiers but this is by no means the case, when not prepared for competition the Streif course is a benign family run.
