The resort lies seventy kilometres from Amman, while Mount Nebo and the Baptism Site (where, it is claimed, Jesus was baptised) are also close by. The Lost City of Petra is a three-hour drive away but is well worth the trip as the entire city was created over two-thousand years ago, when an ancient Arabic civilisation meticulously carved their dwellings into the mountainside. Other excursions include the ancient city of Jerash, believed to be one of the world's best preserved Roman cities, and the desert of Wadi Rum. The surreal emptiness here is enticing and unnerving, whereas hikers will enjoy Wadi Mujib Gorge; quite literally, a hiker's paradise.
