Every city has a ‘signature’ hotel and for many, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée – located between the Champs Elysées and the Seine – is Paris's. Having charmed an elegant international clientele for almost a century, today it mingles glamorous tradition with 21st century technology. Apartment-style rooms and suites, with views over the chic Avenue Montaigne, the Eiffel Tower or the charming courtyard, come in a variety of styles – the classic Louis XVI and Regency style of the lower floors are a striking contrast to the Art Deco style of the upper, including highly individual suites, such as the Duplex Art Deco Suite. Additionally, many rooms are inter-connecting and so are ideal for families.

Cities

It would be fair to say that Paris, with its reputation as one of most beautiful, artistic and romantic cities in the world, is justifiably narcissistic and self-assured. Landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral and Sacré Coeur have secured Paris high rankings on the 'must-see cities' hot-list, while attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre call for no introduction. While many tourists opt to ambush the Eiffel Tower by day, it's also worth visiting at night when the crowds have eased a little and the formidable structure is encased in a magical golden light. The attraction closes at 11.45pm (12.45am between June and September) which leaves plenty of time to admire Paris' glowing plateau of roads, buildings and the River Seine. Every hour, the Eiffel Tower will sparkle with flashing blue lights, making a night-time ascent ever more appealing.
