In 1900 the Fasano family arrived in Sao Paulo from Milan and opened a well-received Italian brasserie. More than a century later, Fasano’s grandchildren have propelled the company into the luxury hotel business – and luxurious it is. The Art Deco-style façade leads into a decidedly handsome décor, designed by Philippe Starck, public spaces emit a subdued yet effortlessly glamorous 1930s glow, while rooms are undeniably masculine – crisp, clean and unfussy. Polished hardwood floors and dark wooden features complement the refined leather armchairs and white marble bathrooms. Twenty-nine floors up, there is a rooftop health centre with a swimming pool, spa and fitness facilities as well as fabulous views overlooking the leafy neighbourhood below – Jardim Paulista – one of the most fashionable districts in Sao Paulo.
