These adjoining villages enjoy a beautiful rural setting within the Arlberg region. The skiing is ideal for beginners and intermediates, though advanced skiers can also enjoy themselves here or take the free bus service to neighbouring St Anton, which shares the same lift pass. The Austrian Ski Schools in Lech, Oberlech and Zürs have a fine reputation and all three accept children. Mini club and kindergarten facilities are also available. Lech is a traditional picture-postcard village nestled on the banks of a river while small, traffic-free Oberlech, located just above, is accessed by cable car until 1am. After this time, the night-bus or a taxi can transport you back to your hotel. Zürs, on top of the Flexen Pass, is a cluster of stylish hotels situated on the edge of the piste and played an important part in the development of modern skiing. Après-ski begins on the sunny terraces of Oberlech then drifts down to the main street of Lech. Zürs, meanwhile, is the quieter resort with just a few bars. Other activities available include cross-country skiing, helicopter rides, tobogganing, paragliding, skating, sleigh rides and snow-shoeing.
