As well as chimpanzees, hikes into the forest may be rewarded with sightings of other primates, bushbuck, bush pig and amazing birds and butterflies. Children over eight years of age are welcome, however only children over twelve years of age are permitted on the Chimp Treks. Fishing, sailing on the dhow, kayaking out into the lake or along the shoreline are also available.

Location and Transfer

1 hour, 30 minutes drive from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha Airport, followed by a light aircraft transfer to Mahale. Alternatively, take two air transfers between Dar Es Salaam Airport, Arusha Airport and Mahale.
1 hour, 30 minutes from Mahale Airstrip to Greystoke Mahale by boat transfer. NB: Visas are required for Tanzania.
