Leisure Facilities
Beijing is one of China’s Four Great Ancient Capitals and was the base of the Ming and Qing Dynasties until the formulation of the Republic in 1911. With a population of around eighteen-million people, Beijing is also the second largest city in China (after Shanghai) and is commonly referred to as the political, cultural and educational heart of the People’s Republic of China. Boasting a wealth of historical and cultural change throughout the centuries, Beijing is, unsurprisingly, an extremely interesting place to visit. Internationally famous points of interest and landmarks include the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. Shopping-wise, there is a lot on offer in Beijing, including a silk market, the Zhongguancun area (sometimes called China's Silicon Valley, owing to its predominance of IT companies and markets selling a huge range of computer and electronic equipment) and a myriad of shops and markets offering antiques, artifacts, jewellry, tea and associated items, art and clothing.
For families wishing to provide their children with a rounded cultural experience of one of the great cities of China, you need look no further than Beijing to provide it. Along with the ancient architecture, landmarks and sacred buildings we’ve already highlighted, you’ll also find a thoroughly modern metropolis that was the home of the 2008 Olympic Games. Visit the Bird’s Nest Stadium, The Cube, the surrounding parkland and even the athletes’ village. For those children learning languages, Mandarin Chinese and English are widely spoken. Though there isn’t a Children’s Club at the hotel, you will find a children’s pool. Babysitting is available, on request.
Club Oasis is a resort-style spa, ideal for retreating to after an exhausting day of sightseeing. A wide range of beauty treatments, manicures and pedicures, massages and wellbeing classes are available and it also boasts an indoor swimming pool. For those wishing to maintain their exercise regime while on holiday, there is also a fitness centre at the hotel with a comprehensive selection of equipment.
