Fugitives' Drift is an award-winning Heritage Tourism project which offers guests an insight into the Zulu war of 1879. The entire area is classified as a Natural Heritage Site and includes the location of Lieutenants Melvill and Coghill's fatal attempt to save the Queen's Colour of their regiment. Guest rooms are cottage-style and boast private verandas and country views. Public rooms are decorated with authentic memorabilia, bringing the events of 1879 startlingly to life. For history buffs and casual visitors alike, the opportunity to stay at this fascinating site makes for a highly memorable experience. Leisure Facilities

Luxury Hotel Experiences

Experienced Guides lead thought-provoking, emotionally charged tours to Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana, regarded as one of the worst military disasters of British Colonial history. Walks and horse-rides to view abundant game and birdlife are offered, as well as fishing on Buffalo River.

Luxury Family Holidays

Fugitives' Drift does welcome children of all ages, however it does recommend that tours are only really suitable for children over twelve years of age. It would be at the Lecturer's discretion as to whether children younger than twelve years old would be able to participate. To give consideration to other guests at the lodge, youngsters eight years old and younger are unable to dine in the dining room, however children's meal times will be arranged at the convenience of the child and parents. Childminding can be arranged while parents are on excursions or having dinner.
