Cottars 1920s Safari Camp recalls the Golden Age of African adventure travel, a time before our on-demand lifestyle robbed us of our capacity for amazement. Here, you can enjoy an authentic tented safari in spacious canvas tents, with original 1920s antiques as well as hot showers and flush toilets. Cottars is located in a secluded private concession between the Serengeti, Masai Mara and Loliondo Reserves; game-rich yet very unspoilt, and offering a higher degree of privacy and flexibility than most of the in-park camps. Game-drives are, naturally, available, but for an even more intense experience, Cottars guided walks force you to slow to a civilised pace and retrieve your sense of wonder.

Safari Holidays

All safari activities are tailored to guests' requirements. Set within an exclusive conservation area bordering Serengeti, Cottar's guests are guaranteed great game-viewing in complete privacy. Furthermore, with more than eighty years of experience under their belts, the owners of Cottars 1920s Safari Camp can justifiably be a little boastful of their expertise. If you're lucky, you'll experience a day (or night) game-drive with Calvin Cottar, great grandson of Charles Cottar. What this family don't know about the game reserve isn't worth knowing, so you are guaranteed an enriching and insightful safari experience. Most game-drives are enjoyed aboard 4x4 vehicles, but an old wooden car and oxen-pulled wagon are also put to good use. In addition, guests are invited to enjoy safari trails, fishing trips and guided walks with trained Trackers. There's never a dull moment at Cottars 1920s Safari Camp - a record which the camp has maintained for more than eight decades.

Luxury Family Holidays

The family tents are an ideal option for families and come with their own 'mess' area. Alternatively, meals can be enjoyed in the main dining room.

Location and Transfer

Situated in the southeastern part of the Masai Mara. International flight to Nairobi Airport, onward light aircraft transfer to Keekorok Airstrip followed by a two-hour Jeep transfer to camp. NB: Visas are required for Kenya.
