Dining at Chitwa Chitwa is very much a social occasion, where feasts on Mediterranean and African dishes are enjoyed by guests and Guides alike. Dine on the main deck or in the impressive African boma; and with an Italian wine cellar to boot, tales of Sabi Sands will be flowing in no time.
Leisure Facilities
Chitwa Chitwa is ideally located in Sabi Sands, where hunting has been abolished for decades. Due to the lack of human threat, the animals in Sabi Sands are remarkably easy to spot. In fact, the 'Big Five' opportunities abound here and the five most dangerous animals to track - buffalo, elephants, rhinoceros, leopards and lions - are all regularly seen. Join Guides and Trackers on twice-daily game drives, leaving very early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when the heat lessens and dusk encroaches. There are also opportunities to accompany expert game finders on carefully led bush walks.
The Chitwa Children eco-experience is a unique facility for younger guests at a lodge where children are whole-heartedly made to feel welcome. Daily activities are wild and varied, including face painting, safe yet enthralling bush walks, animal tracks, folk tales with hot chocolate and marshmallows and Chitwa Chitwa storybooks that not only educate children but also inspire them. Everything is in place to entice younger guests into experiencing wild Africa, in a safe and controlled environment.
Cultural village excursions include visits to the small village of Dixie. While here, guests can experience a day in the life of the locals, having travelled for two hours across sublime African bush aboard an open-air vehicle.
The spa at Chitwa Chitwa offers holistic wellness treatments including massages, wraps, rubs, exfoliations and masks in a wonderful setting.
Guests are able to exchange vows at sunset on the dry riverbed, serenaded by African tribal music and entertained by traditional dancing. Arrangements can be a glamorous or understated as the bride desires. Ministers from most denominations are easily accessible, as are photographers, cakes, hairdressers and florists. Special menus and dining venues can be set aside for the wedding party, if the entire lodge is booked by the wedding party. Newlyweds will experience a wonderfully romantic honeymoon at Chitwa Chitwa, including special deck dinners and honeymoon turndowns in the suites, while very secial experiences, such as helicopter rides over Blyde River Canyon, followed by a romantic Champagne breakfast, can be enjoyed and will ensure lifelong memories of a wonderful trip.
