Arrive at Chiawa Camp to find a superb family-run safari camp fronting the banks of the Zambezi River. The camp takes full advantage of its glorious position by combining the bush, the river and wildlife. Nine safari tents sit on raised timber decking with thatched roofs and a private veranda from where you can watch the elephants wander through camp. En suite tents boast hand-crafted furnishings, a king-size bed, canvas couches, an indoor and outdoor shower and freestanding bath. Meals are served in the communal bar and restaurant, so expect sparkling conversation with fellow guests and the odd dining surprise conjured up by your hosts.

The dining room is located in the main bar area where guests can partake in communal dining, enjoying buffet breakfasts, light lunches and a dinner menu fused with both African and European specialities.

Every so often, the camp’s hosts will organise surprise events such as barbecues or dinner cruises.

Safari Holidays

The river plays an integral part in Chiawa Camp’s safari excursions, providing opportunities to canoe down the river into sea channels and navigate a path through submerged hippos, crocodiles and fish. In particular, angling is very popular and guests can try their hand at fishing for the notorious Tiger Fish or admire them during a boat excursion. Of course, game-drives are offered throughout the day and into the night with expert Guides and Trackers providing invaluable information en route.

Luxury Hotel Experiences

Elephans are abundant here and will regularly saunter through camp. Walkie-talkies are linked between the safari tents and the main camp so guests can be escorted to and from them, especially at night when the thunder of a lion's roar will often erupt across the park.

Luxury Family Holidays

Children over twelve years of age are welcome at Chiawa Camp. Children under this age will only be accommodated by advanced arrangements and special provisions.
