Set in the mountains known as the Golden Valley of Tea, Ceylon Tea Trails is a collection of four Colonial bungalows originally built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj. Now restored to their former glory, these historic houses offer an authentic heritage experience on a working tea estate. Each has four to six Master Suites, Garden Suites and Luxury Rooms, as well as a team of attentive staff, but each has a slightly different personality. Highlights include the country cottage feel at Summerville, Castlereagh’s amazing views of Castlereagh Lake, the gorgeous rose-filled English gardens at Tientsin and Norwood’s croquet lawn, large swimming pool and sun deck.

Luxury Hotel Experiences

Follow the tea trail between each bungalow (there is no more than a forty-five drive between the two), staying a couple of nights at each, or choose to stay at just one.

Stamina-permitting, climb Adam's Peak - one of Sri Lanka's highest mountains and a famous pilgrimage, its 5,300 steps are demanding but the hotel's picnic of sandwiches and refreshments, alongside the spectacular scenery, make this four-hour uphill trek well worth the endurance. A visit to the local tea factory - led by Andrew Taylor (a descendent of James Taylor, one of the founding fathers of Ceylon Tea) is both fascinating and insightful. In addition, bird watching, boating, trekking and climbing can all be arranged.

Location and Transfer

4.5 hours from Bandaranaike International Airport.
