Amilla Fushi: Main Pool
Posted: 27 May 2016
Breaking from the more typical, authentically Maldivian-styled island resort, Amilla Fushi makes no apologies for its bold and iconic design - cleverly displaying modern architecture alongside state-of-the-art technology. The eye-catching exteriors are blessed with generous interiors expertly designed for the modern traveller – here guests can enjoy their island paradise, without forsaking the gadgets, sublime cuisine and amenities they crave. It seems that The Small Maldives Island Company has thought of everything, each detail has been carefully considered and super-sized. The luxury traveller’s demands for space, privacy, exciting cuisine, variety of accommodation types, technology and cutting-edge style has all been more than catered for – not to mention the flamboyant whims of the discerning few!
Our Senior Sales Consultant, Paul Galloway, was fortunate enough to visit Amilla Fushi shortly after it opened last year; and last month he returned to witness an established resort in full bloom. We're pleased to share his feedback about flourishing foliage, shifting sand and some heavenly new additions. Paul recounts how he was once again left impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and further enhancements to the resort. The stunning location, welcoming and attentive Katheeb (butler) service, spacious interiors and attractive deckings, with pools, were as appealing as before; but now there was even more to savour – an enhanced Javvu Spa, the addition of The Wellness Tree House Experience and Wellness Retreat by Bodyism, an increased choice of dining areas, live evening entertainment, plus chilled DJ offering. Above all of this however, is the exciting news of the completed four bedroom villas. Six decadent, four bedroom villas is a major coup, given the current trend for larger families and multi-generational travel; and is something quite exceptional to the typical Maldives resort. Add to this, a truly extravagant eight bedroom, Estate Villa and you can’t help but think that this resort truly has everything covered. From Lagoon Houses perfect for honeymoons and Ocean Lagoon Houses with two bedrooms, which are suited for families with teenagers, to glamorous Beach Houses, Wellness Tree Houses and incredible Beach Residences – the resort effortlessly caters for all guests.
Paul's highlights were again numerous – dining at signature restaurant Lonu, by Luke Mangan, frequenting The Wine Shop and Cellar Door, the convenience and freedom of using The Emperor General Store, snorkelling straight off his decadent deck, being privileged to see two turtles and a ray, chilling beachside with Champagne, lobster and DJ tunes; and relaxing in the unique Javvu spa. For those seeking a little more adventure, or with more time to venture, jet-skiing, tennis, watersports and a Dive Butler are all available to enjoy. With the Blue Hole and a myriad of marine gems to explore by boat, this is an ideal location for divers, snorkellers and nature lovers too. Should the idea of a digital detox appeal, then the new Tree House Wellness Retreat is straight up your tree!
There is little doubt that Amilla Fushi holds great appeal for all ages – an island small enough to be private and intimate, yet boasting a Children’s Club and large array of facilities. It more than delivers on its brief to be ‘Your island home’ and offers a refreshingly relaxed, resort atmosphere. Not simply another island offering, it is a sophisticated eden, one with far more than pristine sands and a blissful spa. It’s a pleasure to experience an icon in the making.
The story for The Small Maldives Island Company continues to unfold and there is plenty to still to talk about.
