Considered the number one hotel in Buenos Aires, Alvear Palace Hotel has been welcoming illustrious guests for decades. Something of a meeting point for Buenos Aires’ high society, the hotel is located in the upscale district of Rocoleta. This former palace presents a grand façade with interiors awash with gleaming marble, golden fixtures, polished wood and brass fittings. The rooms, of which more than half are suites, feature antique details and glamorous bathrooms boasting whirlpool baths and Hermes toiletries, there is even a Floor Butler on-hand. Join politicians and dignitaries in the Lobby Bar, dine on fine French cuisine at La Bourgoine or indulge in afternoon tea at La Orangerie, whatever your preference – as a member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World', Alvear Palace delivers an unforgettable hotel experience.

Cities

There are many things that you must try while in Buenos Aires because it's one of the most inventive and enticing cities in Argentina. Firstly, there is world-class football so do try and watch a match - even if it's just the locals as their skills are likely to be just as impressive as the professionals. Attend a Milonga (Tango night) and have a go at Tango dancing or step inside one of the city's many restaurants for regional steak and wine. Coffee shops literally saturate the streets so don't be surprised if you see coffee-delivery boys weaving their way through pedestrians with a tray of hot drinks - coffee delivery to office desks is very common in Buenos Aires and is often served in a real cup and saucer, with the deliverer returning an hour later to collect the chinaware. Overall Buenos Aires is a treasure trove of experiences and even though you won't be able to sample them all in one trip, there is every reason to visit again.
