After A Dubai Holiday With A Difference?

After A Dubai Holiday With A Difference?

After A Dubai Holiday With A Difference?

By Tara Taylor

Partnership Manager

Posted: 11 March 2014

Tara Taylor can’t stop singing Al Maha's praises ever since she returned from this luxury trip. She says that even though it’s less than an hour away from the city, it feels worlds apart, so it makes a perfect combination if you’re looking to experience another side to Dubai.

Why was she so impressed? Well, for starters, its location in the remote Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is a real show stopper and when she was told about the fascinating activities on offer as she sipped her refreshing welcome drink, a sense of excited anticipation soon descended. During her short stay, Tara, enjoyed a thrilling 4WD ‘safari’ through the magical dune-studded landscape, with a Guide who knew all the best places for views and wildlife − so don’t forget your camera. It certainly lived up to her expectations and she wishes that she could have stayed a bit longer to try some of the other ‘adventures’. There are guided walks within Al Maha’s nature reserve where Arabian oryx and gazelles roam free, horse-riding and camel treks that culminate with watching the sun set with a glass of Champagne in-hand, and the traditional art of falconry, to name just a few.

Then there is the resort itself; Tara’s Bedouin Suite was very private and delightfully decorated with Arabian furnishings, antiques and artefacts. The lovely super king-size bed and large bath were very inviting, as were the private outdoor deck and pool with endless vistas. And, guests who want a closer look at something on the horizon can grab the thoughtfully placed binoculars and appreciate every detail of their magical surroundings. Should you feel inspired to get in touch with your creative side, (which wouldn’t be a surprise given the intensity of the beautiful colours), there are art materials provided too. There is a great spa, the Terrace Bar and fine dining at Al Diwaan Organic Restaurant, so you have all the luxury facilities you’d expect close to hand as well, but are perfectly placed to explore to your heart’s desire.

About Tara

Tara has always had a passion for travel and it's the direction she knew she was destined for from an early age. She's worked in travel for over 20 years, the majority of those being in luxury travel, and has worked in both reservations and product departments, covering all corners of the globe. She joined Elegant Resorts in 2009 and has spent time as Product Manager for Europe & North Africa and the Indian Ocean, and is now responsible for our Caribbean and Arabian Gulf portfolios, as well as overseeing operations in our Barbados office. Her favourite destination changes every time she visits a new place, however she still has a deep rooted love for Paris − and even though she has been travelling there at least once a year since the age of 16, it never fails to sweep her off her feet as she discovers something new on every visit!
