Journey Highlights

Combining your luxury stay between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, affords a dreamy combination of lush green landscapes and captivating culture, with pure beach bliss. Become intoxicated by the diversity of Sri Lanka, with its changing scenery from the central tea plantations and crumbling city forts, to the remote and rugged coastlines. Explore the distinct regions, taste the unique culinary flavours or even discover the Leopards of Yala. The deep south is peppered with rustic farming villages around Tissamaharama, an area teeming with animal and birdlife, plus a stunning natural reserve which boasts jungle running down to the sea. Here, Chena Huts allow guests to relax and bathe within this incredible jungle setting - all whilst being just steps away from the shoreline. In addition to the vibrant wildlife, Sri Lanka provides an intoxicating cocktail of diverse religions, cultures and customs. Visitors can expect a series of memorable experiences, such as strolling around the Galle Fort, taking an authentic cookery class within a traditional Sri Lankan village, visiting a cinnamon and tea plantation, or meeting the famous stilt fishermen. From grand Victorian townhouses, built as the centre of colonial Ceylon society, to the authentic Chena farmer huts - Sri Lanka is a culturally rich country just waiting to be explored.

Having enjoyed verdant Sri Lanka, fly south to the Maldivian beach haven of PER AQUUM'S Huvafen Fushi, located within the North Male Atoll, for a luxurious and relaxing end to your trip. Synonymous with barefoot luxury and dreamy vistas, this stylish resort boasts a secluded atoll setting with Michelin-level dining and a stunning spa. Swim within the tranquil private lagoon, un-wind within the contemporary, well-equipped bungalow's or pavilions and enjoy the exceptional service provided by your dedicated 'Thakuru' or butler. Retreat from the heat within your private plunge pool, visit the impressive LIME Spa, experience an array of watersports, enjoy a little yoga and finally wind-down with sunset cocktails and sumptuous al fresco dining. With an underground wine cellar and bar, this remarkable resort offers blissful escapism both above and below the waterline.

The Wallawwa

+

The heavy warm air, rich green foliage, multi-coloured Buddhist flags and a kaleidoscopic display of saris, fruits, jewellery and spices inspired Marco Polo to describe Sri Lanka as 'the most beautiful island in the world'. For a small island, it offers a truly amazing variety of attractions: archaeological sites and well-preserved national parks inhabited by elephants, leopards, monkeys, crocodiles and rare birdlife; vast tea and spice plantations and sacred Buddhist shrines.

In the misty UNESCO-listed Central Highlands, the picturesque lakeside town of Kandy is home to the legendary Temple of the Tooth, while other attractions within this vast cultural triangle include Sigiriya Rock Fortress, with its extraordinary rock paintings, ancient monastries, the Ceylon Tea Museum and vast expanses of montane rainforest..

Elephants – symbols of the island – can be found working in the countryside and gathered en masse by the temples at festival time. Do pay a visit to one of the elephant sanctuaries, which act as conservation and educational centres on the island. There’s hardly a month goes by without some kind of religious celebration – every full moon day (‘Poya’) is special in the Buddhist calendar because the Buddha was born, attained Enlightenment and died all on a full moon day. Consequently, shops and banks are closed and alcohol cannot be served in public places, but hotels do make special arrangements for their guests.

Helicopter transfers from the airport now make access to popular Sri Lankan destinations even easier. Please call our Travel Consultants for further information.

Highlights

Transfer from the airport and stay two nights at The Wallawwa, a boutique residence. Enjoy the colonial charm and relax within the extensive gardens, before embarking on your incredible journey.
